Fairtrade Fortnight 2018

Fairtrade Fortnight is an action-packed highlight of the year,

when campaigners, businesses, schools and places of worship

show their support for the farmers and workers who grow

our food in developing countries.

This year's Fairtrade Fortnight runs between 26th February and 11th March.

Choosing Fairtrade means that you have the power to change the world every day. With simple shopping choices you can get farmers a better deal. And that means they can make their own decisions, control their futures and lead the dignified life everyone deserves.

It’s a scandalous reality that millions of farmers and workers in the developing world are still being ripped off despite working hard to provide the products we love. Unfairness in global trade is rooted in centuries of exploitation. However, the Fairtrade Foundation (together with yourselves of course!) are correcting that!

Fairtrade is a simple way to make a difference to the lives of the people who grow the things we love. We do this by changing the way trade works through better prices, decent working conditions, and a fair deal for farmers and workers in developing countries.

The Fairtrade premium helps producers improve the quality of their lives. It is paid on top of the agreed Fairtrade price, and the producers decide democratically how to use it. Typically, they invest it in education, healthcare, farm improvements or processing facilities to increase income.

Buying Fairtrade is easy. There are over 4,500 Fairtrade products from coffee and tea to flowers and gold, so when you shop, look for the FAIRTRADE Mark. Small changes can make a big difference!
